What's The Average Monthly Cost Of Living In New York City, Manhattan To Be More Specific?
Jun 12, 2008 by sizzle | Posted in New York City
Hi! I'm touching to New York City from Manila, PHilippines in a few weeks. I just want to know how much is the average monthly payment of a single person in NY--groceries, phone, internet, eating out etc.--except for rent, which will be company paid.
Receive you fortunate soul to the most amazing city in the world.
The bulk of what it costs to live in Manhattan is rent or mortgage payments/land taxes. Since you say your rent will be paid for by your company (There's a cushy deal! Where'd you luck into that?!), then your get of living should be approximately the same as living anyplace else in the city. Since you have no children, you should find life quite livable and lots of fun. If you get a say over what part of community you live in, I recommend you choose the Upper East Side because it has everything right at your doorstep. Note: as of up-to-date developers have been trying to pass off Spanish Harlem as the Upper East Side. The UES ends at 98th Roadway.
An actual dollar amount can vary based on your lifestyle. I would say though that if you aren't paying rent, and are enjoying mortal without going insane, about $2000 per month would do you just fine as a single person. You might slur that up to $3000 if you plan to really do some partying or date a lot.
Update:
PEOPLE, before you thumbs-down ME, announce more closely, why don't you? HIS RENT IS PAID BY HIS COMPANY. Geez, I deserve best answer really for being the only person to pay attention to the question.
SIZZLE, I agree with what everyone is saying as to the cost of living in Manhattan IF you should find yourself at some full stop having to pay your own rent or your own mortgage/taxes.

I've been to the restaurant on Arise Street and it is very delicious! But my favorite has to be Red Bamboo Soul Food in Greenwich Village. You might also like Vegetarian Land of Beulah 2
Where Is The Best Place To Buy Timeshare In New York City (Manhattan)?
Jul 20, 2009 by nixlifter | Posted in New York City
I have been looking around and there doesn't seem to be much gen on timeshares in New York City. I am just getting started in looking into it, but I am not sure where to start. Does anyone have any ideas and friendly hints/tips they might have?
Thank you,
NixLifter
The only one I identify of is the Manhattan Club. It is RCI affiliated. I am sure it will be expensive so whatever you buy be sure it is resale. There are other T/S in western Mass in the Berkshires. Then again be dependable to look for resales do not buy from a developer, you will save lots of money.
How Can I Get From Long Island (Port Jefferson) To New York City (Manhattan) Area Using Public Transportion?
Jul 06, 2007 by Sarah | Posted in New York City
I'm visiting my boyfriend who recently moved to Desire Island in a week. His parents are terrified of the city and refuse to drive us there, but we'd both like to see it. I've been on the MTA website, but there doesn't seem to be an carefree way to get from Port Jefferson to Manhattan. What's the easiest/cheapest route I can take using public transportation? If I can refrain from it, I don't want to go from train to train because of the cost. Trains ARE preferable, though, but anything else (buses, etc) will work. Any New Yorkers recognize what they're doing? Please help us out! Thanks!!
I take the LIRR every day. The ticket will get $9.50 each, each way off peak if you buy it at the station. $15 each if you buy it on the train. http://lirr42.mta.info/Fares.asp
Here's a Saturday earmark. http://mta.info/lirr/Timetable/Branch.ht m?Folder=Branch&Branch=Refuge%20Jeffer son&Direction=West&Period=Weeken d
There is no additional charge for changing trains. You will more than appropriate have to change trains in Huntington on the weekend. If you are not sure if the train is direct or you need to metamorphosis, ask the ticket collector, they're usually helpful.
Here's a weekday schedule too.
They can be a little annoying to impute to but you can also go here: http://lirr42.mta.info/
to get information easier and compare it to the bigger schedult to find out about transfers, etc. As I said befor, if you're not firm about if or where you need to change, ask, it's ALOT easier than winding up in the completely wrong place!

where can i find the worst and renowed bakery place ( a place mostly sell deserts and cookies) in manhattan region of new york city
I bent good desserts - these are my recommendations - and, yes, I've tried them all except one.
Payard on Lexington and 73rd Street

Bouley Bakery - 88 West Broadway
http://www.davidbouley.com/
Balthazar, 80 Existence Street (I didn't like the restaurant at all, but the bakery is wonderful)

Much less expensive, but wonderful - the BEST hot chocolate anywhere and excellent pastries
The City Bakery on West 18th In someone's bailiwick just off Fifth Avenue
And finally, Bouchon Bakery in the Time-Warner Erection at Columbus Circle. I haven't tried this one yet, but I've heard very good things about it.
I think Payard is my favorite, but I'm not uptown that often.
