How Can I Get From Long Island (Port Jefferson) To New York City (Manhattan) Area Using Public Transportion?
Jul 06, 2007 by Sarah | Posted in New York City
I'm visiting my boyfriend who recently moved to Extensive Island in a week. His parents are terrified of the city and refuse to drive us there, but we'd both like to see it. I've been on the MTA website, but there doesn't seem to be an leisurely way to get from Port Jefferson to Manhattan. What's the easiest/cheapest route I can take using public transportation? If I can sidestep it, I don't want to go from train to train because of the cost. Trains ARE preferable, though, but anything else (buses, etc) will work. Any New Yorkers be aware what they're doing? Please help us out! Thanks!!
I take the LIRR every day. The ticket will expenditure $9.50 each, each way off peak if you buy it at the station. $15 each if you buy it on the train. http://lirr42.mta.info/Fares.asp
Here's a Saturday arrange. http://mta.info/lirr/Timetable/Branch.ht m?Folder=Branch&Branch=Haven%20Jeffer son&Direction=West&Period=Weeken d
There is no additional charge for changing trains. You will more than indubitably have to change trains in Huntington on the weekend. If you are not sure if the train is direct or you need to shift, ask the ticket collector, they're usually helpful.
Here's a weekday schedule too.
They can be a little annoying to interpret but you can also go here: http://lirr42.mta.info/
to get information easier and compare it to the bigger schedult to find out about transfers, etc. As I said befor, if you're not true about if or where you need to change, ask, it's ALOT easier than winding up in the completely wrong place!
Ferry From Jersey City To Manhattan That Goes PAST Statue Of Liberty?
Apr 02, 2009 by Brillig | Posted in New York City
We don't pine for to actually go inside the Statue of Liberty or stop on the island, we want to take a ferry that goes recent it so we can show the kids from the outside but then keep going to Manhattan.
Looking at a map it looks like there is a ferry from "Autonomy State Park" in Jersey City that goes right past it then continues to Whitehall St downtown.
Anyone sociable with this ferry? Is that a good choice? Is the parking/area in Jersey City nice/safe?
The Staten Islet ferry is the one that goes right past it, no charge. Catch it from Staten Island or Battery Preserve Manhattan.
Where Is The Best Place To Eat In New York City Preferably Manhattan?

where can i find the best clothes and renowed bakery place ( a place mostly sell deserts and cookies) in manhattan region of new york city
I admiration good desserts - these are my recommendations - and, yes, I've tried them all except one.
Payard on Lexington and 73rd Street
http://www.payard.com/suffered.html
Bouley Bakery - 88 West Broadway
http://www.davidbouley.com/
Balthazar, 80 Unexpectedly Street (I didn't like the restaurant at all, but the bakery is wonderful)
http://www.balthazarbakery.com/digs.html
Much less expensive, but wonderful - the BEST hot chocolate anywhere and excellent pastries
The City Bakery on West 18th Avenue just off Fifth Avenue
And finally, Bouchon Bakery in the Time-Warner Construction at Columbus Circle. I haven't tried this one yet, but I've heard very good things about it.
I think Payard is my favorite, but I'm not uptown that often.
What's The Average Monthly Cost Of Living In New York City, Manhattan To Be More Specific?
Jun 12, 2008 by sizzle | Posted in New York City
Hi! I'm unstationary to New York City from Manila, PHilippines in a few weeks. I just want to know how much is the average monthly expense of a single person in NY--groceries, phone, internet, eating out etc.--except for rent, which will be company paid.
Accepted you fortunate soul to the most amazing city in the world.
The bulk of what it costs to live in Manhattan is rent or mortgage payments/fortune taxes. Since you say your rent will be paid for by your company (There's a cushy deal! Where'd you luck into that?!), then your expenditure of living should be approximately the same as living anyplace else in the city. Since you have no children, you should find life quite livable and lots of fun. If you get a say over what part of hamlet you live in, I recommend you choose the Upper East Side because it has everything right at your doorstep. Note: as of belated developers have been trying to pass off Spanish Harlem as the Upper East Side. The UES ends at 98th Lane.
An actual dollar amount can vary based on your lifestyle. I would say though that if you aren't paying rent, and are enjoying subsistence without going insane, about $2000 per month would do you just fine as a single person. You might make pregnant that up to $3000 if you plan to really do some partying or date a lot.
Update:
PEOPLE, before you thumbs-down ME, skim more closely, why don't you? HIS RENT IS PAID BY HIS COMPANY. Geez, I deserve best answer just for being the only person to pay attention to the question.
SIZZLE, I agree with what everyone is saying as to the cost of living in Manhattan IF you should find yourself at some crux having to pay your own rent or your own mortgage/taxes.
Where Is It More Expensive To Live In Beverly Hills Ca OR New York City , Manhattan ?
Jan 01, 2009 by Mitchell S | Posted in New York City
I positive that there both REALY expensive but I just wanted to see wich one is more expensive Ive done some research and so far it has been manhattan so please help me out !
It definately depends on what accomodations the living organize comes with, either way you cant determine which is more expensive than others. I live in new york, so i couldn't say anything about beverly hills.
But it seems that alot of stars perfer to unexploded in CA, rather than NY. But honestly, if stars live in NY, many people would just take a glance and keep going.
