Do you know what it’s like to manually pump all the water you and your family needs during a long-term power outage?

Our concern for others during such times prompted us to offer equipment that others could rely on during hard times as well.

If we had not gone through those periods without a manual water pump, we would not have known how difficult it is to pump water with a simple hand pump. Probably, many people do not realize how little water can be pumped by one person by hand from deep wells.

Are you up to a challenge?  For two or three days, pump all the water your household needs with your backup hand pump.  We’re talking about bathing, washing clothes, cleaning, cooking, watering plants and animals – everything you use your electric pump for.  Then, if you like, please let us know about your experience and if you’d appreciate a WaterBuck Pump.  Or will your current hand pump do just fine?

This will be an exercise in learning how much time and effort is needed to pump all your water with a hand pump.  Record how long it took, how much water you used, what it was for and how challenging it was.  If you would like to share your experience, please do so. Include your cylinder and drop pipe size and static water level. Any videos would be nice.

The average family of four can use 400 gallons of water every day, and, on average, approximately 70 percent of that water is used indoors.

We often take water for granted, especially if we have a well with an electric pump or are on a public water system. We don’t think about the power required to pump all that water.

You may never know if your current hand pump is adequate for long-term use unless you use it as you would if the power was off.
