Camden, New Jersey native Dajuan Wagner will continue his
professional playing career in Philadelphia.
Wagner, maybe best known for scoring 100 points in a game for
Camden High, has agreed to terms with the ABA’s Philadelphia Spirit. The terms
of the agreement have not yet been disclosed. Wagner will hold a press
conference on Thursday evening to announce the news.

Wagner, who was drafted with the sixth overall pick in the
2002 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers, had been actively trying to make it
back to the league, which he hasn’t played in since 2006 when injury issues cut
his career short.
“I’m never bitter. I’m good. There was nothing I could do about
it,” Wagner said over the summer. “But I do think about it. I think about it a
lot,” he continued, referring to what could have been.
Wagner has recently undertaken a vigorous workout program to
help expedite and improve his comeback attempt.
“I want to see if I can do it. I want to try,” he said over
the summer of an NBA-comeback. “I still love to play, it’s all I've ever known.”
While the ABA is a far cry from the NBA, the agreement
provides Wagner with an excellent opportunity to get back out on the court and
do what he loves. And by signing with the Spirit, he will be playing just over
the bridge from his hometown community that has embraced him both on and off
the court.
